Anamul Confident About Approach In Tests If PickedBangladesh's top order has been out of form

Bangladesh batsman Anamul Haque insists that he isn’t going to change anything that brought him success in domestic first-class cricket to suit the demands of Test cricket.

The right-handed batsman made a comeback to the Test set-up after eight years as a backup after Yasir Ali got injured in the lone practice game and was ruled out from Test series.

Anamul, who hasn’t played for Bangladesh in any format since 2019, forced his way into the white-ball set-up on the back of creating a world record for aggregating most number of runs (1042 runs in the Dhaka Premier League) in a List A tournament. The previous record was held by Tom Moody, who had accumulated 971 runs in 1991.

The right-handed batsman has a load of experience in first-class cricket, scoring 7479 runs in 105 first-class games with an average of 45.32.

The team management is thinking of giving a chance to Anamul in the second Test against West Indies in St Lucia in place of either Mominul Haque or Nazmul Hossain due to their prolonged lean patch with the bat.

”These kinds of things [averaging well in first-class cricket] always give me confidence at the back of my mind that I could take myself to a place from where I can see these things and it always boosts me up and it is in the back of my mind and it will help me and this is a big experience for me because I have played first-class cricket for so many years,” Anamul told reporters at St Lucia on Wednesday.

”Each and every player has the dream that he becomes experienced and he can utilize it. I am hopeful that the experience will help me and I can contribute for my nation,” he said.

”You all know that I have been called in the national team after eight years so this is a big opportunity for me and it’s a great chance to show that I really love Test cricket. I am excited and will try to follow the process the way I have played first-class cricket. I don’t want to change anything from the way I have played so far in first-class cricket and would like to do that,” he said and added, “This was true that I was called up for white ball and I was practicing with white ball but, to be honest I have said this and believe that I love Test cricket a lot and I am very passionate about it and if I get an opportunity certainly I will try to grab it,” he said.

The top-order failure had been a major concern for the tourists, being bowled out for less than 200 in five out of 12 completed innings that includes scores of 80 and 53 all out against South Africa while managing 103 runs in the first innings against West Indies in the two-match series opener at Antigua.

”What I am thinking is that if I get a chance I will try to give my best and so that I can help in putting a good score in the scoreboard for Bangladesh team. It is very important that we must prevent the falling of early wickets as well as keep the scoreboard moving and that is very important for me,” he said.
