Bangladesh begin their World Cup campaign against Scotland on October 17
Bangladesh will skip their lone practice game in Oman in order to remain protected during their six-day mandatory bio-bubble, a prerequisite for the upcoming T20 WC, said Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Tuesday.
Cricbuzz earlier reported that Bangladesh will travel to Oman for preparation of T20 WC and according to an itinerary released by the BCB, Bangladesh will leave for Oman on October 3 for a week-long camp.
BCB officials insisted that they were in talks with their Oman counterpart so that they could arrange a practice game but it was scrapped at the last minute as it would have put their six-day mandatory bio-bubble at risk.
”We will be having a six-day quarantine in Oman and if we play the practice game against a local team, the bio-bubble may be put at risk. So we decided to skip the practice game,” BCB official confirmed to Cricbuzz on Tuesday when his attention was drawn about the practice game.
“We will be playing our two official warm-up games in the UAE,” he added.
Bangladesh will undergo room quarantine for a day before they complete four-day practice sessions in Muscat. They will later travel to the UAE on October 9 and will be quarantined until the next day.
Bangladesh will take part in two scheduled warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland on October 12 and 14 in Abu Dhabi before they fly again to Oman on October 15 to feature in the qualifying event of the tournament.
Bangladesh will take on Scotland in their first qualifying match on October 17 before they take on Oman and PNG respectively on October 19 and 21.
