Bowlers Put Adelaide Strikers In FinalAdelaide Strikers have now booked a berth against Perth Scorchers for the finale

Adelaide Strikers Women powered their way into the Women's Big Bash League final on the back of an excellent performance with the ball on Thursday (November 25) at the Adelaide Oval. Melbourne Renegades put on a poor show with the bat and made only 83 with Strikers overhauling the target in the 11th over.

Megan Schutt knocked the stumps first ball after Tahlia McGrath opted to bowl in the Challenger and that set the tone for the rest of the innings. Darcie Brown got rid of Carly Leeson cheaply and then went on to dismiss Jemimah Rodrigues as well in the powerplay. McGrath then completely put her side on top by bagging the key wicket of Harmanpreet Kaur, who was named the player of the tournament recently.

A run out then had Renegades reeling at 30/6 with the result already appearing to be a foregone conclusion. The last three batters managed to do something the rest of the lineup failed to do – go past double digits. Eventually, their struggle came to an end as they finished with just 83 on the board for the loss of eight wickets in their quota.

Strikers on the other hand made a completely contrasting start to the chase. With just 84 to get, Dane van Niekerk batted with freedom and Katic Mack provided good support at the other end. The openers pretty much killed the chase in quick time as Strikers romped home with 55 balls to spare, losing only Van Niekerk in the process for a breezy 43.

Adelaide will now take on Perth Scorchers in the finale on 27th November.

Brief scores: Melbourne Renegades Women 83/8 in 20 overs (Ella Hayward 18*; Darcie Brown 2/9, Megan Schutt 2/23) lost to Adelaide Strikers Women 86/1 in 10.5 overs (Dane van Niekerk 43, Katie Mack 31*; Carly Leeson 1/5) by 9 wickets
