CP Joshi-led RCA panel disbanded

Cricket news - CP Joshi-led RCA panel disbanded

In a move that can have a far-reaching effect on the game in the state, the CP Joshi-led executive committee of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) was disbanded by the registrar of Societies on Tuesday. As per the Rajasthan State Sports Act, which governs all sporting bodies of the state, the registrar has the power to disband any executive committee if he finds some irregularities.

Registrar of Societies Neeraj K Pawan acted on a complaint by RCA secretary Rajendra Singh Nandu and treasurer Pinkesh Porwal, both of whom owe allegiance to the Lalit Modi faction. "Both of us, along with 14 other district associations, had complained of irregularities in the RCA long back," Nandu told TOI. "The registrar did his own investigations and found that there had indeed been irregularities. All the involved parties were asked to present their versions by September 17, which we did. Today, the registrar decided to act."

Fearing such a move, the Joshi faction had moved an application at the Rajasthan High Court on Monday itself. Assistant secretary Mahendra Nahar had himself appealed to the court to step in. The court, however, advised them to wait for the registrar to act before bringing the matter to him. Officials of the Joshi faction told TOI that they would approach the court at the earliest. "This was expected and we are prepared for it"
