Cricket news - Live cricket score, New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, Only T20I
That ended pretty quickly, then. New Zealand win by 35 runs to bring an end to Sri Lanka's tour that the visitors end without a win. Sri Lanka made an absolute mess of their innings after a strong start. They lost wickets at regular intervals, before losing them in a heap towards the end with New Zealand's bowlers smart and accurate.
Despite having been ahead of the required rate for most of the innings, they fell short, despite the ball not doing too much in the second innings. After a good start, losing Dickwella and Kusal Perera within the powerplay in the space of 5 balls hurt them. Thisara Perera kept them in the game, but that wasn't enough to arrest the slide of the other wickers. Eventually bowled out for 144 in 16.5 innings meant Sri Lanka ended their tour winless.
Much credit for the win, however, goes to Doug Bracewell and debutant Scott Kuggeleijn's all-round shows, that handed New Zealand their third trophy of the tour in what eventually turned out to be a dominant display from the hosts.
Thank you for your company today.
A smart review, and Sri Lanka are seven down. Sodhi traps Shanaka in front. Sri Lanka are losing the plot.
Two wickets in an over and New Zealand are nosing ahead in this contest. Ferguson has brought the hosts right back in.
Thisara departs, and it's the big wicket! Sri Lanka are 118/5, and need 62 in 43 balls.
100 up for Sri Lanka. They're well ahead of the required rate.
Southee strikes! Mendis departs. Still struggling in the limited overs, isn't he?
50 up for Sri Lanka.
Oh, and another! Bracewell strikes with his first ball. Dickwella has to go after edging to the wicketkeeper. Two new batsmen in the middle for Sri Lanka now.
GONE! Debutant is having quite the field day. Kuggeleijn breaks the partnership to send back Kusal Perera. The attempted loft gets chipped straight to mid on.
AND OUT! Superb comeback from Ferguson. Sadeera Samarawickrama chops on for a first-ball duck in his only game of the tour.
We're back for the chase and what a start Sri Lanka have had! Begin with a four and six off the first two balls off Lockie Ferguson.
WOW! What a finish! Sri Lanka need 180 to win! Some late blows from Tim Southee and Scott Kuggeleijn ensure New Zealand have recovered and extremely well, from their poor start to finish with 179 on the board. New Zealand didn't even have 60 on the board after 10 overs. What a recovery. Led by Ross Taylor at first, who shared stands in the middle to help them recover from the early blows after being reduced to 27/4. The late hits, were, however, what have given New Zealand more than just a competitive total to play with.
BIG WICKET: Bracewell was looking dangerous and Rajitha gets him. Good catch at long-off. Onus on Scott Kuggeleijn now.
17th over - Perera to Bracewell - 1lb, 6, 6, dot, 4, 4 - 23 runs in the over. New Zealand have crossed 140 now.
Perera gets Ross Taylor, and the big fish is sent back. Huge wicket in the context of this game. Taylor had added vital stands and runs to keep New Zealand afloat and take them over the 100-run mark.
Just when you thought a partnership was being built, Santner falls. Sri Lanka aren't letting NZ out of their grips. He gets the toe-end of the bat to one that dipped a bit and ends up holing out to long on. Sandakan has a wicket.
Santner is the next man in..
Looks like New Zealand arent having the best of evenings so far. #NZvSRI— Jonathan Northall (@jnorthall) January 11, 2019
And the fourth! New Zealand seem like they're in a hurry here. A nothing shot from Munro. Went for the pull off the short ball, gets a fat top-edge that goes straight up and to cover. BIG TROUBLE NOW! Like you needed me to say that.. New Zealand are 28/4 in four overs.
BOWLED HIM! Malinga with his second wicket of the day. Henry Nicholls's stumps are shattered. A little movement back into the left-hander and the fuller one has him make the long walk back. New Zealand are three down for not too many.
AND ANOTHER ONE! Siefert blows the chance of showcasing what he's capable of at the top of the order. Hands a very simple catch to Sandakan at cover as New Zealand lose their second wicket. It was the extra bounce that did him in. New Zealand need a partnership. Sri Lanka well on top.
OUT! Early wicket for Sri Lanka! Malinga strikes and it's the big one of Guptill. Kusal Mendis picks out a good catch after the batsman gets a thick top edge.
Here we go. It's play time.
Pitch report: The pitch is very hard and there's just a bit of green tinge, that should help the bowlers get some extra pace and bounce. It will be full of runs, but there's something in it for the bowlers.

Hello and welcome to the only T20I between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. It's the final game of the Sri Lankan tour, where the visitors have been winless thus far. Can they finish their tour on a high with a win in the T20I?
It's their best chance too given both teams' struggles in the format of late. The hosts have lost nine of their last ten games in the shortest format, including five of those to top-ranked Pakistan.
Toss, teams and more in a bit.
