Jos Buttler was England's best player in all formats in the past year, with the successful retrieval of the Test team, using his position as England's most destructive-and-white-ball bat, and if England are to deliver on their two most important goals this year - the football world Cup and ashes while the home-summer - Buttler is likely to be in the foreground.

His virgin Test century against India at Trent Bridge, was his arrival in the five-day format after a fall in 2015, and he also played a number of vital innings in Sri Lanka at the end of last year. "We feel happy to be around this time to come when these kinds of things, because it is a huge opportunity, and we all want to play a role in an exciting time for English cricket," he said. "It is a big year, but for us it is a case of concentrating on the here and now, because we don't want to get too far from us. We are well aware of how quickly things can change, and cricket and you can come unstuck.

"We are all in a very good position to possibly play a role in a great period for England cricket. They are all very romantic ideas, but the final product comes from the hard work over the years and to do some good stuff now."

Buttler arrived in the Caribbean directly from Australia, where he spent the last couple of weeks to play for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash with a Test-captain Joe Root. After the Test and ODI series in the West Indies squad for the T20I matches, has not named yet, and Buttler could be locked - the 28-year-old will head to accede to India, Rajasthan Royals, for a guest game in the IPL. Although Buttler is one of the strongest members of the English team, it's a murderous schedule and he is aware that he needs to get away from the game, if he can, the mind and body fresh. "It's a huge year and we have to be fresh and excited on the way to the big events," he said. We only have a short career and you want to play as much as you can. There are amazing opportunities around the world, but you have to balance your time well, and it is important for me to have time away from the game. It is a discussion for everyone is so open and honest and trying to find the best solutions."

England begin their preparations for the test series with a two-day, 12-a-side affair against West Indies Cricket XI at Kensington Oval, starting on Tuesday (15. January). Although the team is preparing a case for the captain and coach, it seems that the England football enjoyed a lot of the players could soon be at an end.

"It's been a fun part of our warm-ups for a while, and I really love football, but I do not understand his point of view, as it will probably be a lot of sense for us to warm up to the game," added Buttler. "If his final decision, that was it. I don't think the players would be too much of a fuss."
