Cricket news - Beuran Hendricks called up for final three ODIs against Pakistan

Hendricks is uncapped in the ODI format but has made seven T20I appearances.

South Africa left-arm fast bowler Beuran Hendricks for the remainder of the current ODI series against Pakistan have called up. Hendricks, 28, is connected by the pair of Dale Steyn and Quinton de Kock, the return in the squad after he was rested for the first two games. Duanne Olivier, Dane Paterson and Heinrich Klaasen, the three players that fold are brought, as the hosts maintain a 14-player contingent.

Hendricks is without the end cap in the ODI format, but has appearances of the seven T20I, the last of which came in Potchefstroom against Bangladesh in October 2017. Henrdicks enjoyed a decent Mzansi Super League in the T20 format, claiming 12 wickets in nine games for the Jozi Stars, and with his left-handedness, brings an extra dimension to attack an already strong bowling.

"We are very pleased with the depth of our fast bowling resources," commented selection convener Linda Zondi. "Especially when you consider that Lungi is Ngidi on the way back from the injury, and we want to also have a look at Anrich Nortje, if he recovers fully. At the same time, we want all of the options that are available to us and Beuran will be in a position to variety in our attack."explore

Olivier, the last in the previous test series, was offered to expect a much-deserved breather with a similar fractional Kagiso Rabada, the way in front of the T20Is. "We are aware of what have to offer Duanne, Dane, and Henry, and in the case of Duanne we are aware, the amount of bowling, he's done at the top level in the last few months and we want to give him a break before the Test series against Sri Lanka. For the same reason, we will to rest Kagiso Rabada for the whole of the T20 International series," said Zondi.

The five match ODI series is currently tied 1-1 with South Africa in a five-wicket victory in Durban, destroyed Pakistan to the early lead by a similar margin in Port Elizabeth. The third game of the series in Centurion will be played on Friday (25. January) with the following games in Johannesburg (27. January) and Cape town (January 30).
