Cricket news - Danielle Hazell retires from international cricket

Hazell finishes with 146 international wickets.

England offspinner Danielle Hazell has announced her resignation from the international cricket at the age of 30 years. Hazell, to represent who, and England in three Tests, 53 ODIs and 85 T20Is, as last presented in the national colors in November of last year in the T20 world Cup final against Australia.

In a successful nine-year career, Hazell Cup won the World twice, and the ashes three times. While she had tasted success in the 50-over format, Hazell at one point the world's top-ranked bowler in T20Is, a format that you an average of 20.75.

"I am told to move 100 percent happy with my decision, from international cricket to play and I'm really excited to see what the next Chapter holds for me," Hazell. "I owe a lot to the game, and I would now like to a bit of my time and energy back into the sport. There are some amazing highlights - some of the really special moments were - but the memory that stands out the most for me is the back-to-back ashes victories in 2013 and 2014.

"Playing international cricket for nine years, an effect can says on you both mentally and physically, and my body to me, to move that it's time. I'm gonna miss the girls, I'm going to miss it, pull on the England shirt and I'm going to miss it, in the arena, but the timing is right for me."

Hazell, who has also led England on a couple of occasions, received a lot of praise from head coach Mark Robinson for their achievements on and off the field. "Dani can be pointed out quite rightly really be proud of their international career," Robinson. "She was one of the best off-Spinner in the world, but it is not only your Cricket ability that we'll miss.

"We will miss your leadership qualities and your character. She has a Mentor-the likes of Sophie Ecclestone on and off the field, a good ally for Heather and the Deputy were more than capable, if necessary. We all wish her all the best when she goes in the next Chapter of your life."
