Cricket news - All-round Windies wallop Pakistan

Dottin smashed 90 off just 60 balls.

It may have taken the Windies Women nearly 15 years to return to Pakistan to play international cricket, but it took them little time to assert themselves on the hosts as they cruised to a thumping 71-run victory in the first T20I in Karachi.

Leading the onslaught was Deandra Dottin, who slammed 90 off just 60 balls, to give the visitors a challenging score of 160/2 in their 20 overs. Defending their score, Shamilia Connell was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 23 runs to bowl Pakistan out for 89.

Batting first, Dottin found the groove early even as Windies lost the wickets of Kycia Kngiht and Shemaine Campbelle cheaply. However, Chedean Nation settled down to give Dottin solid company. Her 50 came off 35 delvieries, and included four fours and two sixes. Dottin, on the other hand, slammed eight fours and four sixes during her 60-ball knock as Windies ended with 160 on the board.

Pakistan's reply hit roadblocks very early. Bismah Mahroof and Javeria Khan were the only two batters to get into double digits, but once Khan was dismissed in the 6th over, Pakistan innings fell away rapidly. The eight batters to follow all aggregated just 24 runs as they were bowled out for a paltry 89.

Brief Scores: Windies Women 160/2 (Deandra Dottin 90, Chedean Nation 50) beat Pakistan Women 89 (Bismah Mahroof 38, Shamilia Connell 3/29, Shakera Selman 2/8) by 71 runs.
