Cricket news - Stokes makes England's 12-man shortlist for St Lucia Test, Foakes misses out

Ben Stokes has shrugged off an injury scare ahead of the third Test.

England have included Ben Stokes in their 12-man shortlist for the third and final Test against hosts Windies at St. Lucia starting Saturday (February 9).

Stokes reportedly missed the team's training session two days out from the game due to a bruised heel but is expected to take part in the final Test of the series that England has already lost 0-2.

Wicketkeeper-bat Ben Foakes, however, has been left out after he injured his hand while batting in England's first innings in Antigua. He did not keep wickets in either innings, but did come out to bat lower down the order in England's second dig.

Pacer Mark Wood and opener Keaton Jennings are also in contention to play. Wood could replace Sam Curran, who has claimed only one wicket in the series thus far, as England look to strengthen their pace attack which has lacked penetration in both the games.

England lost the opening Test by 381 runs and the second match by 10 wickets, and are looking to avoid the embarrassment of a whitewash.

Meanwhile, Chris Woakes and Jack Leach continue to warm the bench.

England's 12-man shortlist: Joe Root (C), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Joe Denly, Keaton Jennings, Ben Stokes, Mark Wood
