Cricket news - Molineux ruled out of New Zealand series

Molineux injured her shoulder during a training session for Victoria

Sophie Molineux, the Australian all rounder, will miss the upcoming three-match ODI series versus New Zealand due to a shoulder injury. Delissa Kimmince, the medium pacer who can also add useful runs lower down the order, has been called up to replace the spinning all rounder.

Molineux, who has bagged six scalps at an average of just over six in ODIs, injured her shoulder during a training session for Victoria. Sophie suffered a right shoulder subluxation whilst diving during a fielding drill at training earlier in the week," Australian Team Physiotherapist, Kate Mahony said.

"A scan has revealed significant soft-tissue injury and as a result, she is unavailable for the upcoming series against New Zealand. She will be reviewed over the coming days to determine rehabilitation and return to play timeframe," Mahony added.

The first match of the series will be held at the WACA on February 22. The second and third games of the rubber will take place on February 24 and March 3.
