Cricket news - Delhi, Mohali ODIs to go on as scheduled

The fourth ODI is set to be played in Mohali on Sunday while fifth ODI is slated for Wednesday.

The acting president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), C.K. Khanna, has confirmed that there are no plans to move the venue of the final two ODIs between India and Australia (set to be held in Mohali and Delhi respectively), contradicting earlier reports that the matches in question were slated to be moved due to the political tensions between India and Pakistan.

"There is certainly no such plan to shift any of the games from their original venues," said Khanna. "I can confirm that both ODIs in Mohali and Delhi are happening as per our schedule."

The increasing tension between the India and Pakistan had earlier resulted in reports emerging that the last two ODIs were in danger of being moved. The fourth ODI is set to be played in Mohali on Sunday (March 10) and the fifth ODI is slated for Wednesday (March 13) in Delhi. Saurashtra had offered to host one of the games in Rajkot in case a change of plans was necessary. Khanna, however, has snubbed the idea completely.

"As far as a backup venue is concerned, the BCCI always has alternate arrangements in place in case a venue expresses its inability to host a game," said Khanna. "It was nice of Saurashtra to put their hand up, but as of now, it won't be necessary."
