Morning session washed out

On expected lines, the morning session has been washed out without a single ball being bowled. Lunch will be taken. As per the weather forecast, rains could lash Wellington until at least 3 PM.

Rain, rain go away...

"Rain, rain, go away. There's no sign of an imminent toss at Basin Reserve due to heavy rain in Wellington" - via ICC's Twitter handle.

Time for ducks and seagulls

"There are ducks and seagulls playing in the outfield. The outfield is soaked; it doesn't look like letting up whatsoever. The players safety will play a part," Simon Doull.

Oh, some bad news. Heavy rains have been lashing Wellington since 6 AM and it is still pouring down. There are a lot of puddles on the outfield. Hence, we won't have a scheduled start and the forecast for the rest of the day looks grim too. Hopefully, the weather would clear up a bit.

Build Up

The first Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh turned out to be a one-sided affair with the former posting a crushing innings victory. For the tourists, Tamim Iqbal cracked a superlative ton in the first essay while Sarkar and Mahmudullah shared a spirited 235-run stand in the second dig.

However, the Asian nation's batsmen wasted a good start in the first innings and their bowlers struggled to hit the right lines and lengths. The pacers were also criticised for the short ball tactic early on Day 2.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's batsmen made merry with Kane Williamson composing a double ton as the home side notched up a massive 700 plus score. On the bowling front, Trent Boult shone brightly by picking up a five-for on a flat deck in the second innings. Neil Wagner, his partner-in-crime, yet again made his presence felt with his tried and tested short ball strategy.

With Rahim more or less ruled out from the second Test as well, can Bangladesh make a comeback in Wellington? We will have all the action in a few minutes time.
