Cricket news - Rain flushes out another day in the Wellington Test

For the second day in a row, rain played spoilsport at Basin Reserve

Day 2 of the Wellington Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh followed a similar pattern to the opening day as there was no play possible due to unrelenting rain.

As a result of steady rain, even the toss hasn't taken place so far. It rained overnight and for most part of the first session of Day 2. However, at the fag end of the first session, the rain stopped for a while with covers being slowly taken off. At around 3.45 PM local time, the umpires also inspected the conditions and there seemed to be a chance of some play possible.

Unfortunately, there was another spell of rain and umpires, eventually, decided to call off the day's play at 4.30 PM local time. The weather forecast indicates that there could be a few scattered rain showers on Sunday, too. On a positive note, the drainage system at the Basin Reserve ground has been upgraded.

New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the three-match rubber with a thumping innings win in the Hamilton Test.
