Cricket news - Live Blog - India vs Australia, 4th ODI

India will aim to get back to winning ways after losing their last game

Highest ODI score for Dhawan

There's no stopping this man today. Dhawan takes Behrendorff to the cleaners and brings up his highest ODI score. He is eventually dismissed for 143 by Pat Cummins.

India also lose Virat Kohli cheaply soon after. Australia have staged a mini-fightback.

Rohit departs

Oh my! Just when it looked like Rohit will keep going on and on, he falls. And it is to a shot he really loves, too. A pull off a short balls seemed destined for the stands, but he hasn't timed it well enough and Handscomb takes a catch a little away from the boundary.

Dhawan doesn't make that mistake tho'. He notches up his 16th ODI hundred with a paddle for four.

India on the charge

Highest opening stands for India vs Aus (ODIs):

182 R Sharma - S Dhawan, Mohali, 2019 *

178 R Sharma - S Dhawan, Nagpur, 2013

176 R Sharma - S Dhawan, Jaipur, 2013

175 S Tendulkar - S Ganguly, Kanpur, 1998

Rohit brings up fifty too

Both openers have hit form now. India will be delighted. Rohit brings up his fifty too and looks set for a Rohit-style massive innings.

Dhawan fifty lifts India

Just when everyone were starting to cast doubts over Dhawan's form, the left-hander storms back to form. Fifty off 44 balls and India can start setting sights on a massive total. India have gone on to breach the the-figure mark without any setbacks.

Solid start for India

They've not had a lot of this recently, but India have made a decent start to this game. There's not much on offer for the bowlers, true, but Dhawan and Rohit look keen on cashing in. Dhawan looks in really good form, while Rohit has been very circumspect.

Toss and teams:

India have won the toss and elected to bat first. And guess what? They've made a host of changes, four of them. Chahal for Jadeja, Pant for MSD, Bhuvi for Shami and KL Rahul, who's slated to bat at number four, for Rayudu.

Australia have made two changes, one of them forced. Stoinis is out with a thumb injury and is replaced by Ashton Turner, while Jason Behrendorff comes in for Nathan Lyon.

Inputs from the ground:

Shami's knee is heavily strapped. He isn't exactly warming up, looks unlikely to play.

Chahal involved in fielding drills. Kuldeep not to be seen (as yet). Tye bowling on the side pitch, he's been doing so for quite a while.

Rayudu not involved in the regular fielding drills and is bowling (pretty bad) leg spin with the support staff.

So Australia are back to winning ways, and India failed to grasp the chance to close down the series in Ranchi. For the neutral, it couldn't have been better news. Three extremely gripping games, and the series is still wide open.

India have opted to take their chances in the last two ODIs before their World Cup campaign by resting Dhoni. That means Rishabh Pant will get his chance to show his worth.

Australia will hope to continue their fightback and level the series with another strong performance.
