Cricket news - Live Cricket Score: IPL 2019, RR v KXIP

KXIP have never won a match in Jaipur

A match that was going Rajasthan Royals's way for most parts of the chase completely turned on its head with the controversial dismissal of Jos Buttler. That Buttler dismissal turned things south for RR. And hopefully, in hindsight, it's not something that Ashwin would be too proud of. However, it was debutant Sam Curran - who had gone for 48 off his first three overs - who turned it around for KXIP with his fourth over in which he dismissed both the set batsmen and triggered a collapse. Kings XI Punjab registered their first win in Jaipur and began their IPL 2019 campaign with a 14-run win.

A flurry of wickets have derailed Rajasthan Royals' chase, a game in which they seemed to have complete command.

Sam Curran has struck again, dismissing Sanju Samson off the last ball of his spell. Having conceded 48 runs in the first three overs, the debutant returned superbly in the 17th over to concede only 4 runs and dismiss two set batsmen.

WICKET Steve Smith's return to IPL was overshadowed by Jos Buttler's controversial dismissal. But while the conversations went around Ashwin's decision to 'mankad', Steve Smith played a handy cameo. However, he falls, courtesy a fine running catch by KL Rahul at long off, and has brought Kings XI Punjab back into the contest.

Do you agree with R Ashwin's decision to run out Jos Buttler?

R Ashwin...what on earth! The KXIP skipper 'mankads' Jos Buttler, and ends a very entertaining innings. Although I'm not a big fan of the whole 'Spirit of Cricket' chatter but still believe better sense should have prevailed from a senior cricketer like Ashwin. This was sheer desperation by the bowler. He took his delivery stride, and at that point Buttler was inside his crease. The runner came out of his crease later. As per the rules, Ashwin was well within his rights to run out Buttler but looking at the circumstances and how Rajasthan Royals were not really sneaking desperate runs in the middle overs, this was just disappointing on part of R Ashwin. Buttler makes his frustration evident - to Ashwin and to the KXIP dugout.

@RajeshAhari8 Not sure of the records but he is TOO entertaining.

FIRST STRIKE! R Ashwin's carrom ball tricks Ajinkya Rahane and gives KXIP their first breakthrough. Much needed. Much much needed.

Jos Buttler brings up his sixth fifty in last seven IPL games with a straight hit over the infield for a boundary. He has started from where he had left last season.

@CowCricket Destructive, sir!

POWERPLAY Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane have massacred the KXIP attack in the Powerplay, and taken out 64 runs from the chase, losing no wicket in return.

Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler have hit some crisp boundaries to get Rajasthan Royals off to a powerful start in the chase.

Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler have walked out to open the innings for Rajasthan Royals. IPL debutant Sam Curran to bowl the first over.

Sarfaraz Khan's inclusion may have come with its share of criticism but he has played quite a useful knock. After partnering with Chris Gayle for a half-century stand, he provided some late acceleration with his cheeky strokes to help Rajasthan Royals to 184/4.

Sarfaraz finishes on a 29-ball 46 - his highest score in IPL. Barring him and Gayle, the rest of the batsmen largely struggled to get going. This is a good total, yet gettable. Sets up for a good chase.

Ben Stokes bags another wicket. Nicholas Pooran's painful stay comes to an end as he stretches for a delivery wide outside off and holes out to the long off fielder.

CHRIS GAYLE FALLS After leaking 6,4,4 and 4 off the first four deliveries off the 16th over, Ben Stokes finally manages to end Chris Gayle's innings. That should sort a lot of issues for Rajasthan Royals going in TO the death overs.

Sarfaraz Khan and Chris Gayle may not have run too well in the middle but they have powered to a quickfire half-century stand.

@uday_allada Agree. Even I'm curious to know what panned out in the last few days at the KXIP net sessions for Karun Nair to not get picked! But well, Sarfaraz Khan has another opportunity to prove what made him such a talked-about school cricketer for all his teen years.

CHRIS GAYLE FIFTY 4,4,4,6 - The first four deliveries of the 12th over, bowled by Jaydev Unadkat, has given Chris Gayle's innings a much-needed momentum and helped him register another half-century - off 33 balls.

WICKET With a desperate need to pick up the scoring ratee, Mayank Agarwal decided to smash his statemate K Gowtham in to the stands, only to be caught superbly by Dhawal Kulkarni at long off.

Chris Gayle hasn't imposed himself enough in the innings so far. But in the first ball of the ninth over, he slog swept K Gowtham for a massive six to bring up the half-century stand for the second wicket.

POWERPLAY After starting out their innings with a boundary, Kings XI Punjab have slowed down and managed only 32 runs from the powerplay. Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal haven't looked uncomfortable though.

@CowCricket Legit Question!

Who is the greatest overseas player to play in the IPL?

RECORD ALERT: Meanwhile, with a quick single, Chris Gayle has moved to 6 and brought up his 4,000th run in IPL. - becoming the 9th player overall and 2nd overseas player after David Warner to achieve the milestone.

KL RAHUL FALLS! After getting off the mark with a boundary, he ends up poking a delivery outside off for Jos Buttler to take a fine low diving catch. Dhawal Kulkarni with the wicket.

@CowCricket If you can withstand some agony, see no further than RCB. As part of their CSR - Go Green campaign - they have one match day dedicated for you.

TOSS: Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and Rajasthan Royals will field. No Karun Nair for KXIP.
