Cricket news - Clinical Dolphins make it to the Momentum One-Day Cup final

Maharaj picked up a four-wicket haul

Dolphins romped to victory by 7 wickets after a clinical performance against the Warriors in the semi-final of Momentum One day Cup on Thursday.

The Warriors were put in to bat first by Khaya Zondo and the Dolphins new ball bowlers did all the damage early in the innings. Daryn Dupavillon bowled a tight opening spell whereas his partner Eathan Bosch bagged two crucial wickets to put the opponents on the back foot. The innings never took off and Warriors kept losing wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings. Keshav Maharaj was the main destructor in the middle overs as he bagged four pivotal wickets and as a result of this terrific bowling effort, the Warriors were bundled out for a paltry score of 119.

Chasing 120 was never going to be a tough task and the openers got Dolphins off to a flier. Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Sarel Erwee added 69 runs for the opening stand with the former notching up a run-a-ball fifty before he departed. Van Jaarsveld's knock of 53 consisted of nine cracking boundaries and on the back of his solid knock, Dolphins chased down the target with more than 30 overs to spare.

Dolphins will face the Titans in the final of the Momentum One-Day Cup on Sunday (31st March) and after such a convincing victory in the knock-out contest, they'll be now looking forward to knock-down the Titans on the weekend.

Brief scores: Dolphins 123/3 in 19.1 overs (Vaughn van Jaarsveld 53; Sisanda Magala 1/32) beat Warriors 119 all out (Lesiba Ngoepe 34, Keshav Maharaj 4/36) by 7 wickets.
