Warner checks out the pitch at Hyderabad

VICTORY: Rashid, Yusuf see RR through

The duo put on an unbeten 34-run stand to help SRH win with an over to spare. Rashid tonks Archer for a four and a six to eventually give SRH a comfortable win. Two losses on the bounce for Rajasthan Royals, who will be disappointed of not crossing the line despite a good performance.

WICKET: Pandey falls too

Gopal gets another one. It's his mate from Karnataka. Pandey, with his big front pad out, misses the googly and is caught plumb in front. Gopal gets two in two but Rashid prevents the hat-trick.

WICKET: End of Shankar

He hits a googly from Shreyas Gopal to long on after a 15-ball 35. SRH need 32 off 27 balls now. There are two overs from Jofra Archer as well. This could get very tight.

WICKET: Williamson falls

Vijay Shankar is playing a very neat cameo at the other end and has kept SRH comfortable. But Williamson too tries to get into the act and cuts an Unadkat ball straight to point. A tight finish looms.

WICKET: Dhawal Kulkarni makes amends

After that drop, Dhawal pulls off a spectacular catch at long off to end Bairstow's stay. The loft from Bairstow, off Gopal, wasn't timed well but still seemed to be sailing over the rope. Dhawal, though, times his jump to perfection just inches inside the rope and takes a stunning catch.

Bairstow dropped!

Stokes could have had two wickets in that over. Bairstow gets a thick edge down to third man where Dhawal Kulkarni misses a simple catch. How costly is that going to be?

WICKET: Stokes gets Warner

The quick, short ball finally does the trick for Rajasthan Royals. Warner plays a half-hearted pull and ends up top-edging it to fine leg. End of a 37-ball 69 and a 110-run opening stand.

100 opening stand up!

Boy, what a stand this has been between Bairstow and Warner. The latter has done most of the damage but the 100-run stand comes up in under 9 overs.

SRH off to a blazing start

Warner has hit a 29-ball fifty in this chase. He's been finding boundaries on both sides of the ground. RR were guilty of being too straight initially but have been unable to contain him even after correcting their lines. SRH have 69 after the powerplay.

Ton for Samson; RR finish with 198

The death overs have taken the Royals to a mammoth total. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets hit for 20 runs in his final over as well. And Samson gets to his second IPL ton amidst the end carnage. That will take some chasing.

Samson canes Bhuvneshwar

He's taken 24 runs off an over single-handedly against Bhuvneshwar Kumar with strokes of increasing class. All the boundaries through the offside, and all absolutely gorgeous. Samson arrives in the IPL, as he does always.

Reprieve for Samson

He gets a big edge off a knuckle ball from Kaul. There were 4 fielders converging but three back out seeing Bairstow go after it. The keeper gets some glove on it but does not latch on.

WICKET: Rahane falls for 70

The 119-run stand has been broken by Nadeem. Rahane chips down the track to try and loft but the dragged back length sees him chip it to long on.

Fifties for Samson, Rahane

Both batsmen have raced along after the powerplay. Rahane gets his 27th IPL fifty while Samson gets his 11th. SRH are struggling after that Rashid strike. None of their bowlers have threatened to take a wicket. Rashid came close to picking a second, but Bairstow dropped an edge that came off Rahane's pad.

Rahane, Samson fight back

The duo is finding the boundaries now. Samson has been proactive with his strokes but Rahane too has found his groove now, and has managed to get his strike-rate up. The partnership is worth 81 after 50 balls together. This is setting up the Royals quite nicely.

A quiet powerplay

SRH have been brilliant in the powerplay, conceding only 35 and getting the wicket of Buttler to boot. The two are interconnected as well, with Rahane traditionally playing the anchor's role. Don't expect anything out of the ordinary from him. Onus on Samson to up the ante.

WICKET: Rashid gets Buttler

Big breakthrough for Sunrisers Hyderabad. A quick legbreak on leg stump from Rashid Khan, Buttler tries to sweep but gets a glove on it before dragging it onto the stumps. The bowler is pumped and rightly so, that's a huge blow for Rajasthan Royals.

Nemeses of Joss Buttler in IPL

3 - Rashid Khan

2 - Ashish Nehra, Mohit Sharma, Dwayne Bravo, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Amit Mishra

Toss: Rajasthan Royals opt to bat

Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Ajinkya Rahane(c), Jos Buttler(w), Sanju Samson, Steven Smith, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Shreyas Gopal, Dhawal Kulkarni

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): David Warner, Jonny Bairstow(w), Kane Williamson(c), Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Manish Pandey, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul

The face-off between Warner and Smith is one of the biggest talking points ahead of this game, although Tom Moody wants everyone to move on from that topic. There is a good chance of Kane Williamson coming back for this game, which means Jonny Bairstow could sit out. Both teams looked good in their previous encounter only to lose from that stage. Both teams are likely to lose a host of foreign players in the latter half of the tournament, and so grabbing these early points are extremely crucial. That and a lot more to look forward to as we wait for the toss and team updates. That will be coming up soon. Stay tuned.
