Cricket news - David Willey pulls out of IPL 2019

Willey is expecting the birth of his second child

David Willey will not be turning out for the Chennai Super Kings in this Indian Premier League as he has opted to stay at home for the birth of his second child.

Willey was one among the eight foreign imports in the defending champions' initial squad. The English allrounder was brought into the CSK squad last year as a replacement for Kedar Jadhav and had subsequently been retained. CSK had earlier been hit with the injury to South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi, and are now left with just six overseas options to choose from. No replacements have been named yet.

CSK are already two games into the tournament, winning both, and have used only three foriegn players in both the games. Willey is reportedly still in Leeds, training with his county side - Yorkshire.

Willey had initially delayed his departure to India as he awaited the bith of his child, but had to altogether cancel his plans.

CSK are currently second in the table with wins over Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. They will take on Rajasthan Royals on Sunday in Chennai.
