Cricket news - Live Blog - Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians, Match 9, IPL 2019

Quinton de Kock was dismissed for a 39-ball 60.

MI falling away again?

Another wicket down and AJ Tye sends Pollard back. It's a skier and Mayank Agarwal settles under it nicely. Great come back by Punjab. Can they finish it off well against the Pandya brothers?

Excellent spell from Murugan Ashwin

Troubled Yuvraj Singh throughout his spell despite the two early boundaries and he gets the reward by getting Yuvraj to play a mistimed sweep and has him caught at deep square leg. End of a troubled innings for Yuvraj 18 off 22. Couldn't find his range today as he'd done in Bangalore the other night.

4-0-25-2 => the figures for M Ashwin!

50 & Out for De Kock

The 'bring back Shami' trick works for KXIP and Ashwin as he strikes with the last ball of his 3rd over, the 13th of the match. De Kock moves far too across the stumps to play that swivel-flick. He misses and is rapped on the thigh. Umpire gives him out and a review brings no relief.

Gone for a 39-ball 60. Here's Ashwin and new batsman Kieron Pollard.

Shami returns

And offers a friendly length ball on de Kock's hips and gets whipped for a six. Ashwin's looking for wickets and has brought back his lead seamers back on. Remember, this five-bowler issue has hurt them in the first two games.

Andrew Tye isn't spared either. Yuvraj gets into the act. A lofted shot over mid-off and a straight drive off a full toss gets him going. KXIP in trouble through the middle overs once again.

QdK keeps ticking along

MI will have kept a close eye on their mid-overs batting after floundering in Bengaluru. QdK is ensuring there's no repeat trouble. Two sweetly timed fours off Murugan Ashwin pushes the run-rate towards the 9 mark once more. 80/2 in 9

Clarification: Apparently, the first ball of the game was a dead ball. Hence the "seven-ball" first over

One brings two: SKY kicks off with back to back boundaries and is denied a third one due to some excellent fielding in the deep by Mandeep, but the fireworks are short-lived. M Ashwin takes out Suryakumar. LBW, plumb in front. Back to back setbacks for MI. But here's Yuvraj.

WICKET: Viljoen goes up in appeal against Rohit and it's given. LBW. Looked plpumb, but what do I know! Replays show it's missing stumps! KXIP needed Rohit gone and he's gone. He was considering a review, probably, but was convinced by his partner not to. Big mistake!

FLYING START: Rohit looking in fine nick here. Shami and Tye - two of the best KXIP pacers - have been hit for a total five boundaries in their first overs each. Mumbai off to a flyer. 46 for no loss after 5 overs.

Controversy and KXIP/MI go hand in hand: Are we seeing a seven-ball over here? Yep! Ashiwn the bowler. The seventh delivery of the over - how odd does that sound now? - brings the first boundary for MI.

Alright then, set for action. Ashwin to open the attack for KXIP, for the first time this season. Smart move considering QdK's weakness against off-spin. But Rohit's taking first strike. Captain to captain.. here we go!

Playing XIs:

Mumbai Indians: Quinton de Kock(w), Rohit Sharma(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga

Kings XI Punjab: Lokesh Rahul(w), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, Mandeep Singh, Hardus Viljoen, Ravichandran Ashwin(c), Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Andrew Tye

TOSS: Kings XI Punjab opt to bowl. M Ashwin comes in place of Varun Chakravarthy for the hosts, Mumbai are unchanged.

Oh, and remember it's Punjab da puttar Yuvraj Singh vs Punjab today!

Toss in 10. Stay tuned!
