Cricket news - Bairstow, Warner roar into record books with blistering tons

Warner and Bairstow registered the highest opening stand in the IPL history.

Jonny Bairstow and David Warner smashed centuries as Sunrisers Hyderabad rained on Royal Challengers Bangalore's parade with a destructive display of batting at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. In the process, the pair wrote themselves into T20 record books under various categories.

Here's a look at all the significant numbers from the game.

185 The opening partnership of 185 between David Warner (100*) and Jonny Bairstow (114) is the highest ever first-wicket stand in the history of IPL, surpassing the unbeaten 184-run stand between Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir for KKR against Gujarat Lions in Rajkot in 2017.

Highest opening partnership in IPL

1 Warner and Bairstow became the first pair to put together 100-plus partnerships in three consecutive innings in the IPL. They have achieved this feat in their first three stands together. SRH's opening duo scored 118 against KKR and 110 against RR in their first two games in the competition.

4 Today marked the fourth instance of two batsmen scoring hundreds in the same T20 match and the second instance of it happening in IPL. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers smashed hundreds for RCB against Gujarat Lions in 2016.

Two individual hundreds in an innings in T20s

3 Innings taken by Bairstow to score his maiden century in IPL - the joint third-fastest for any player. Brendon McCullum and Michael Hussey scored hundreds in their debut innings (incidentally in the first two games of the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008) while Andrew Symonds also took three innings for his maiden three-figure score, also in 2008.

4 Hundreds scored by Warner in IPL - two each for Delhi and Hyderabad. Only Chris Gayle has scored more - six - while Virat Kohli and Shane Watson have also scored four centuries each. Meanwhile, the 114 by Bairstow is the second-highest individual score for SRH after Warner's 126 against KKR in 2017 at the same venue.

8 This was the eighth score of fifty or more for Warner against RCB - the joint-highest by a player against any side in IPL. Warner has now scored right fifties in nine innings for SRH against RCB in IPL.

231 for 2 by SRH is their highest total in IPL surpassing the 209 against KKR at the same venue in 2017. It is also the highest total in IPL matches in Hyderabad bettering Chennai's 223 for 3 against SRH in 2013. Only one higher total has been registered against RCB - 232 for two by KXIP in Dharamsala in 2011.

118 The margin of win for SRH - the biggest ever for them in IPL surpassing the 85-run win against Mumbai in Vizag in 2016. It is the second biggest defeat for RCB in terms of runs after the 140-run loss against KKR in the inaugural IPL match in Bengaluru in 2008.

At 16 years & 157 days, RCB's Prayas Ray Barman became the youngest player to feature in an IPL game.
