Cricket news - Live Cricket Score - Sunrisers Hyderabad v Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2019, Match 33

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost all their four games to Chennai Super Kings last season

Presentation ceremony..

David Warner -- Man of the Match: Great support, even though there is plenty of yellow they are a fantastic crowd. Some times in our chases we have been a bit hesitant and that's why I tried to bat 20 overs. Against the Kings I thought the wicket was a bit tough. Credit to Jonny, we complement each other really well.

Kane Williamson -- SRH captain: Very good performance all-round. Obviously CSK started really well with the bat and we couldn't take early wickets, but we played really well in the back half and we took our chances in the field as well. We always need to adapt to the wicket, and we'll look to build on this performance. Rashid has been an outstanding performer for us over the years and on such surfaces he is a big threat for the opposition. Now every game is different and we need to do the same for our next one. Warner's was a match-winning knock along with Jonny. We weren't quite ourselves in the last few matches and we wanted to come back to doing what we've always done well.

Suresh Raina -- CSK captain: I think it is a very good wake up call. I think we didn't put a decent score on the board and kept losing wickets. Faf and Watson gave us a good start but we could not capitalize. We lost too many wickets in between and that's why it cost us the game. We should have looked for partnerships and should have rotated our strike better. Hence, we were 30 runs short. He (MS Dhoni) is feeling better. His back was stiff. Probably he will play in the next game against RCB. He (Imran Tahir) has been giving us breakthroughs. You just throw the ball to him and he delivers. He has been bowling really well. As long as senior players are there, you just need to do well as a unit.

SRH break their rut against CSK

Having not won a game in their four opportunities last season, SRH managed to get one over their southern neighbours this year. The bowlers set it up by restricting CSK to a below par total of 132, then Warner got them off the blocks with a 24-ball fifty and though they lost a couple of wickets in the middle, Bairstow batted right through and got them over the line with an unbeaten 61.

Jonny, Jonny, Jonny!

Jonny Bairstow has been such a impressive addition to SRH. He has complimented Warner, matched him with shots and sometimes even outscoring, but today he's taken over the baton of taking his side over the line. He gets to his second 50-plus score of the season.

Imran Tahir - 4-0-20-2

The legspinner keeps CSK in the hunt with the wickets of Williamson and Shankar. However, having bowled out in the 13th over and with very little support, SRH still remain in the box seat, especially with Bairstow out there.

Highest batting PP scores in IPL 2019

69/0 - SRH v RR (Hyderabad)

68/1 - SRH v CSK (Hyderabad) - tonight!

67/0 - MI v RCB (Mumbai)

65/0 - KKR v RR (Jaipur)

64/0 - RR v KXIP (Jaipur)

David Warner raced to a 24-ball fifty before Deepak Chahar deceived him with a well-disguised knuckle ball. The SRH opener could not clear midoff and offered a sitter to Faf. It was his third consecutive fifty.

SRH openers at it, again!

David Warner and Jonny Bairstow get SRH off the blocks quickly. The openers used the new ball and the pace on it to stitch another 50-plus stand in the tournament - sixth time they have done it in 8 games.

The lowest IPL total successfully defended at Hyderabad - Sunrisers Hyderabad's 126/6 v Pune Warriors 104/10 (18.5 ov) - Dale Steyn 3/1, Amit Mishra 3/19, Tissara Perera 2/29 on 5 Apr 2013.

A tale of two innings

First 10 overs - 80/1. Next 10 overs - 52/4. Watson and du Plessis gave the best start for CSK but the middle order could not cope with the slow surface. Rashid and Co. kept the lid on the scoring and picked wickets at regular intervals as well. If not for Rayudu's 25, CSK would have fallen well short of the 132 they got in the end. SRH to chase it down?

5 for 22

CSK lose their way after the opening partnership. Rashid's two wickets in one over dent them badly and Khaleel Ahmed also has Sam Billings for a duck. The onus now is on Rayudu to take the visitors to a competitive total.

Rashid strikes twice!

The magician from Afghanistan removes CSK's stand-in skipper Suresh Raina and then backs it up with Kedar Jadhav's wicket. Both LBWs, both reviewed and both umpire's call. Rashid has picked two in a game for the first time this season.

Nadeem breaks the opening stand

Chennai Super Kings enjoyed their best start to an innings this season. After beginning cautiously, the duo of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis accelerated to add a 79-run partnership before Nadeem cleaned up the former.

The four IPL matches missed by MS Dhoni

CSK v DD (Delhi) 19 Mar 2010 (CSK won by 5 wkts)

CSK v KXIP (Chennai) 21 Mar 2010 (CSK lost by Super over)

CSK v RCB (Bangalore) 23 Mar 2010 (CSK lost by 36 runs)

CSK v SRH (Hyderabad) 17 Apr 2019

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): David Warner, Jonny Bairstow(w), Kane Williamson(c), Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, K Khaleel Ahmed

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina(c), Sam Billings(w), Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Karn Sharma, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir

Surprise at the toss - MS Dhoni is not playing, Suresh Raina is leading Chennai Super Kings. He wins the toss and decides to bat. Kane Williamson would have also batted first.

Last year's finalists - Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad - square off for the first time in IPL 2019. Not much has changed for the defending champions. The players are the same, the consistency is the same and hence they sit pretty at the top of the points table. The same cannot be said about Sunrisers Hyderabad. They got back David Warner and with the addition of Jonny Bairstow have formed a fearsome opening combo, but injury to regular skipper Kane Williamson has hampered them in the middle order - an area that needs immediate attention and correcting.

Two more wins for CSK should get them into the playoffs for a 10th time and with the way Dhoni has led them, it is a matter of time. SRH have lost three on the bounce and are desperate in search of a win to get their campaign back on track. However, there record against the southern neighbours read 4-0 last season. Can they change their fortunes? Hello and welcome to the live blog for this game.
