Cricket news - Live Cricket Score - Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals, Match 50, IPL 2019
That's it from us folks! Hope you enjoyed CSK's clinical win. Until next time then ...
MS Dhoni, Man of the Match: They will stop eventually because they want to listen what I say. I watch the ball and hit the ball. It's easier for somebody who has played 10 or 15 overs than somebody who has just come in bat. I felt it would've been difficult for Rayudu to hit. We knew there won't be much dew on the field. Once we started our innings of bowling, Bhajji didn't get much turn. I felt it was a good wicket, 170-180 was a par-plus score. It's great fun to watch him celebrate. The good thing is he finishes the lap quickly and comes back to bowl. It's something that has come from tennis ball cricket. If you want to keep like that, you may commit a lot of mistakes. It's important to stick to the basics. I have always said it's very special to get that kind of a nickname. The way I got accepted and the whole of Tamil Nadu don't call my name, they call me 'Thala'. It's very nice and they have always supported us.
Shreyas Iyer | Delhi captain: It is really going to effect us specially the run rate. The way we chased, it wasn't expected from the batsmen but it is a good reality check for us. Good that it happened at this stage and everybody would be on their toes in the next game. We won't blame the abilities of our team but definitely we didn't play smart cricket. It was an amazing start by the bowlers in the powerplay and should have curtailed them to under 170. Even with the way we started with the bat as well, we have had great starts which we couldn't convert into big ones. There are small things we have to look into and come back strong in the next game. I wouldn't blame myself nor the team. The way he stumped me, it was lightning speed, I couldn't control and with the way the ball spun, it was difficult to get back. I was really looking good and thought I would be taking on the next few overs. It was an unfortunate wicket of mine. I never thought about that before (stumped for the first time in IPL). We know what ability he has, especially in the death over. For sure we were missing him in this game. He had a stiff back and it is good that he took rest. We are keeping that hope in our mind and definitely want to be in the top two. That will put us in a good situation. Looking forward to finish in the second position. RR game, at home, wouldn't want to disappoint the fans.
Ravindra Jadeja: I was enjoying my bowling. There was a lot of turn on the surface. I was just trying to bowl in good areas, and the wicket was doing the rest for me. Tahir has been fantastic throughout the season. He has taken wickets for us whenever we needed. Me, Immi bhai (Tahir) and Bhajju have done well, and as a bowling unit, we need to put a lot of effort into our bowling and our the skills. We applied ourselves quite well. In one word, MS Dhoni is a genius. We still have one more game, and we need to continue the momentum. Everyone is in good form, and we need to take it one game at a time.
ALL OVER - CSK WIN BY 80 runs
Tahir gets fourth, Dhoni gets his third dismissal of the game and it's all over. CSK are on top of the table again. Four of the five lowest totals in IPL 2019 have come in Chennai.
Dhoni walks off with a big smile on his face. He had admitted he wasn't 100 per cent and yet was taking the field. First his assault and then his keeping - plenty of things to cheer for for the home fans.
Jadeja was outstanding too. His 10-ball 25 turned the tide in CSK's favour. And when the track offered turn, he gave DC no chance. Tahir ran through the side and Jadeja buried them into the ground.
MS DHONI! Wow!
Iyer goes now and DC are in shambles. Talk about timing the stumping. Just when Iyer lifted his foot, Dhoni took off the bails. Couldn't have timed it better. No one could have pulled it off better.
DC 85 for 8
Full and spins past the outside edge. Morris had his foot in the air and Dhoni did the rest.
DC 84 for 7
Three for Tahir
Rutherford doesn't last long either. Full and wide again, the left-hander chased that one again and the edge flew to point.
DC 81 for 6
CSK on top
Full and wide from Tahir. Axar chases that one. Outside edge and caught at first slip. Iyer frustrated and stuck at the other end.
DC 81 for 5
100 needed in the last 10 overs ...
Ingram goes now. Full and fast from Jadeja, spun in and Ingram failed to connect on the flick. That one turned plenty and DC went for a review. Replays showed it was clipping the leg stump.
DC 66 for 4
Poor, poor, poor
Terrible from Rishabh Pant. Full and wide, smashed straight to long-off. He had gotten a boundary just the last delivery. Tahir sticks to his plan and Pant doesn't execute his shot well. Straight to Bravo.
DC 63 for 3
Harbhajan is pumped. Dhawan goes for a slog sweep and doesn't connect. The balls smashes into the stumps. Second wicket inside the powerplay for CSK.
DC 53 for 2
Short and wide, Shaw creamed that one straight to cover point. Raina takes a good catch and CSK have a wicket in the first over. Chahar's good form continues.
DC 4 for 1
Chahar to bowl the first over, as usual, Dhawan and Shaw to open. Will DC chase this down?
DC set 180
Raina half-century, Jadeja blitz and then the Dhoni assault has given CSK a very competitive score. They made a very slow start and scored only seven in the first four overs. They did really well to recover from that. Raina did well but the real difference was made by Jadeja and Dhoni.
Tough task ahead for DC and they'll need their openers to click today. Dhawan is scoring but a score from Shaw will make things a lot easy.
Outstanding catch from Morris. Off cutter and Jadeja wanted to clear the midwicket fence. It went high and Morris chased that one. Covered the ground well and completed the catch with ease. First wicket for him.
CSK 145 for 4
50 & OUT
Raina falls after his 37th IPL fifty. Four, four, six and then out. He was trying to take on Suchith and doesn't connect well. Top edge and caught at point.
CSK 102 for 3 in 15 overs
Faf du Plessis falls trying to up the ante. He had hit Axar for a six on the previous delivery and went again. Doesn't connect well and Dhawan takes a good catch at long-off. He made 39 off 41.
CSK 87 for 2
10 overs done
Raina has given the innings some impetus. Du Plessis has found it hard to get going and is batting in 20 off 29. Not the ideal start but with wickets in hand, CSK won't feel too far behind. It's crucial they pick up the pace in the next three overs.
CSK 53 for 1
DC boss powerplay
Just 27 in the first six overs for the loss of one wicket. Raina is trying to up the ante while du Plessis is looking to settle in.
FIRST BREAK: Watson falls. He was frustrated with the runs not coming. Just three runs had come in the first three overs. He tried to break free and smashes a length ball to deep midwicket. Watson falls for a nine-ball duck.
CSK 4 for 1
Alright then, Watson and du Plessis walk out to bat. Boult to start with the ball. We are all set. Are you?
Chennai Super Kings: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir
Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Colin Ingram, Sherfane Rutherford, Axar Patel, Jagadeesha Suchith, Chris Morris, Amit Mishra, Trent Boult
TOSS - DC opt to field. Boult, Suchith come in for DC; three changes for CSK
