Cricket news - Aaliyah Alleyne, Shawnisha Hector earn maiden ODI call-ups

Shemaine Campbelle and Chedean Nation, who missed their last home series against Australia through injury, will return.

West Indies have included two promising pace bowlers in their squad for the first two ODIs in the upcoming three-match series against India, scheduled to begin at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on November 1 (Friday).

Antiguan pacer Shamnsha Hector and Barbadian all-rounder Aaliyah Alleyne impressed the selectors during a training camp and have been included for the first time in the national side. Shemaine Campbelle and Chedean Nation, who missed their last home series against Australia through injury, will return to the Stefanie Taylor-led 14-member squad.

"The selection panel chose a good balance of youth and experience when assembling this squad," said Ann Browne-John, Lead Selector of the Women's and Girl's panel Cricket West Indies on Saturday (October 26). "We have the return of the experienced Chedean Nation and Shemaine Campbelle, who missed the last series against Australia due to injury," she added.

West Indies are set to play three ODIs and five T20Is against India across three venues with Antigua hosting all three ODIs. St. Lucia and Providence stadium in Guyana shall play host to the five ODIs that will end on 20 November.
