Cricket news - Live Cricket Score - New Zealand vs England, 2nd Test, Day 2, Hamilton

Latham scored an unbeaten hundred on the opening day.

We're back on for the post-Lunch session. Curran has the ball.

Quite an uneventful one indeed, the last over. New Zealand head into Lunch at 248/5, having added 75 runs for the loss of both the overnight batsmen. The first hour belonged to England - two wickets and some tight line and lengths. The second, Watling and Daryl Mitchell forged a fifty partnership for the unbroken sixth wicket stand to even things out. Join us back in 35 mins for post-Lunch session.

Last over before Lunch coming right up!

50 partnership: Watling and debutant Daryl Mitchell have steadied the innings after the two early losses this morning for the hosts.

The new ball is now due and, indeed, England have taken it immediately. Also, the sun is playing hide and seek now. Nothing alarming yet though, thankfully.

Oh hold on a sec.. Ben Stokes is back into the attack after that knee injury scare on the opening day. He bowled only two overs yesterday before his troublesome knee caved.

England review. LBW call against Watling that's been turned down. Was there bat? Root and Curran discuss it at length and decide to challenge it. Only to lose their review... Hotspot confirms it.

Or maybe not.. Curran strikes and it's Nicholls who has holed out to Broad at backward square leg! Good start for England to the day.

Edged and falls short of keeper Pope. Watling survives. Unlucky Sam Curran

WICKET: England strike early and it's the man in form, Latham! He gan his day with a gorgeous straight drive but Broad cleans him up with the last ball of that over to give England just the kind of start they needed this morning!

All set.. Here we go!

Not such an overcast morning there, after all. Sun's out for now. That's good news. Jofra Archer warming up on the sides.

It promises to be an overcast morning. Let's hope against hope that rain stays away today. Also, play starts half an hour early today - but you already knew that, didn't ya?

Hello and welcome back!

Only two sessions were possible yesterday with England going in with a five-pronged pace attack in the hope to get some assistance from the surface the cloud cover. Well, that didn't work out very well for them, with Tom Latham punishing them for dropping him in the 60s by bringing up a hundred - his 11th in Test cricket. Ross Taylor meanwhile contributed 53 in his typical fashion. NZ were comfortably placed at 173/3 when rain arrived. Woakes picked up two of the three wickets for England, while you might not see Ben Stokes bowl again in this game.
