Fabid Ahmed was absent hurt on 56 to add to all the spice in the closing hours. As a result of this win, Puducherry are now on 27 points in the second position, two points behind Goa.
Andhra beat Hyderabad with a bonus point to sit at the top of Elite Group A & B with 21 points. They are now in serious contention for the quarterfinals. Their win by an innings and 96 runs in Ongole was centred around Paidikalva Vijaykumar's five wickets on the final day as Hyderabad were wrapped up for 168. Telukupalli Ravi Teja was the sole shining light with 72 not out.
Jammu & Kashmir registered a 173-run win over Services to leap to the second spot on the Group C table. This was their fourth win of the season. They declared on 201/5 and then bowled out Services for 146, with Mohammed Mudhasir and Parvez Rasool picking three apiece. Arjun Sharma's 139-ball 54 lower down the order wasn't enough to save the game.
Devdutt Padikkal's 133-ball 53 not out helped Karnataka get away with a draw on the final day. They were put to follow-on on the third evening but thanks to a 96-run opening stand (Rohan Kadam 42, Ravikumar Samarth 74), the visitors polished off a draw and secured one point. Cheteshwar Pujara was named the Player of the Match for his 248 in the first innings.
It's more than just a draw
The Mumbai-Tamil Nadu fixture in Chennai ended in a draw. Mumbai broke out of two back-to-back losses and took away three points courtesy their first innings lead whereas Tamil Nadu had to be content with just one. Ravichandran Ashwin, unbeaten on 32 overnight, got up to 79 as Shams Mulani's four-wicket haul stunted Tamil Nadu to 324. Following on, Tamil Nadu were 48/1 but there wasn't enough time for a result.
Rajasthan, still winless this season and tottering at the bottom of Group A & B table, walked away with three points -- their first of the season -- courtesy a first-innings lead over Gujarat in Jaipur. Tanveer Ul-Haq's 30 lower down the order was crucial in edging out a 35-run lead. Batting for the second time, Gujarat's Priyank Panchal and Samit Gohel hit unbeaten hundreds.
