West Indies white-ball captain Kieron Pollard will join Northamptonshire for this summer's T20 Blast and feature in eight games through the middle stages of the tournament. Pollard will be available from June 5 against Durham, which will be the club's first home game.

The 32-year-old all-rounder has represented Somerset before in 2010 and 2011, and has played a staggering 499 T20 matches during his career. His stint at Northamptonshire is currently subject to a no-objection certificate from the Cricket West Indies.

"Visa criteria permit, I see this as a wonderful opportunity to be back in England again playing in the action-packed Vitality Blast tournament," Pollard said on Tuesday (January 28). "I want to thank Northants for welcoming me to their group of exciting players. I know they have some amazing fans and I look forward to entertaining them and bringing more success to the club.

"Of course as captain of the West Indies team and defending champions I have one eye on the T20 WC later this year in Australia, but I can assure you my focus will be 100% on winning games for Northants when I arrive in June."

Alongside Pollard, Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and Dutch seamer Brandon Glover have also signed. Pollard comes in with a massive T20 experience around the globe, including in Big Bash in Australia and in the Indian Premier League, where he has helped Mumbai Indians win the tournament in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

"I've spoken to many people about Kieron and the biggest factor you get from everyone is that he's a winner, he's got a fantastic record in winning T20 comps, just an absolute competitor," head coach David Ripley added. "It helps the teams he plays for that he can bowl the big overs, field in key positions and whack it out of any cricket ground in the world."

Northamptonshire won the T20 Blast trophy in 2013 and 2016 but failed to progress beyond the group stage last year.
