Gloucestershire vs Warwickshire, Bristol

Another splendid bowling performance by Graeme van Buuren, even if relatively expensive, powered Gloucestershire to a 50-run win over Warwickshire. The left-arm slow bowler bagged three wickets to trigger an early collapse in Warwickshire's chase and was backed up well by Matt Taylor, who too scalped three wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 123 in their 174-run chase.

Earlier in the day, Gloucestershire openers - Miles Hammond and Chris Dent - put on an 88-run partnership to lay a strong platform, at the back of which Ian Cockbain stroked a quickfire 44. Even as the other batters failed to make a significant impact, the performances of the top 3 ensured the hosts reached 173 in 20 overs, which proved to be more than enough in pursuit of their sixth win of the season, taking them 4 points clear of the second-best Northampton who have played one game less.

Warwickshire's batting struggled throughout. Barring Sam Hain, who scored an unbeaten 34-ball 43, none of the other batters made worthy contributions to the chase, with seven falling for single-digit scores. The visitors remain at the third spot on the points table with this result.

Brief Scores: Gloucestershire 173/6 in 20 overs (Miles Hammond 49, Ian Cockbain 44; Olly Stone 2-31, Henry Brookes 2-48) beat Warwickshire 123 in 17.1 overs (Sam Hain 43*; Matt Taylor 3-29, Graeme van Buuren 3-33) by 50 runs
