Cricket news - Live Cricket Score: KKR vs RCB, Match 31, IPL 2020

RCB won by 8 wickets

RCB won by 8 wickets

Nice and easy, Virat Kohli and Gurkeerat Singh ensure there are no further hiccups as Royal Challengers Bangalore cruise to an easy win. They completed the formalities of the 85-run chase in only 13.3 overs, losing two wickets in the process. The win has pushed RCB to the second spot on the points table - also helping their poor Net Run Rate big time. KKR, on the other hand, face threat from some of the bottom four teams who are looking to play catch-up.

Siddharth @Draviddict Lockie Ferguson bowled 4 overs and conceded just 17 runs. It's still only the fourth most economical figures of the game!!! ???????????? 04:57 PM • Oct 10, 2020

WICKETAnd there goes another. Poor communication in the middle and both the batsmen - Gurkeerat Singh and Devdutt Padikkal - find themselves on the same end of the pitch. 46/2

WICKET Lockie Ferguson strikes off his second ball. However, the issue is thatby the time they brought him to bowl, the RCB openers picked 44 runs. Aaron Finch falls, edging to the 'keeper. 45/1 in 6.2 overs

RCB need 85 to win, of which they have already picked 28 runs without losing a wicket in the first four overs. And yet, Lockie Ferguson - KKR's best bowler in the last game - hasn't been brought into the attack.

Rajat @DarkLariat Lockie Ferguson hasnt been given the ball yet. I dont know what is he saving him for? 04:10 PM • Oct 10, 2020

Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch have walked out to open the innings for RCB. Can KKR defend this low total?

Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav's late contributions have helped KKR to 84/8, a total that looked unreachable at the fall of the seventh wicket. It was the highest partnership of the innings, a fact that doesn't paint a good enough picture for KKR.

WICKET With limited batting credentials in KKR's last four, Eoin Morgan tried to wage a lone battle. He could go only as far as 30 before holing out a pull off Washington Sundar to the fielder at deep mid wicket.57/7 in 15.4

Deepu Says:15 overs by KKR is the slowest any team to reach the score of 50 in the history of IPL. The previous most being 13.1 overs by KXIP against CSK in Durban in 2009.

WICKETThe 49-run mark may be closing in but RCB are in for a fight. Pat Cummins falls after surviving two close LBW appeals.40/6 in 12.3 overs

WICKETJust when it seemed that Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan were taking the time to consolidate KKR's innings, the former has been foxed by Yuzvendra Chahal and trapped legbefore after failing to pick a googly. KKR's troubles continue.32/5 in 8.2 overs

RECORD ALERT:Another wicket maiden for Mohammad Siraj. He becomes the first bowler in the history of the IPL to bowl two wicket maidens.

WICKETMohammad Siraj's carnage continues. The pacer induces an edge off Tom Banton's bat as well and has him also caught by AB de Villiers. The KKR batsmen are falling way too quickly for their liking. Also, three wickets down, he is yet to concede a run.14/4 in 3.3 overs.

WICKETShubhman Gill isn't staying at the crease for too long. Looking to hit over the top, the KKR opener top edges a short ball by Navdeep Saini and Chris Morris takes a good catch.3 for 3.

Double maiden wicket to begin with for Mohammad Siraj

2 IN 2: Nitish Rana's defences are breached off the first ball. Mohammad Siraj strikes again. KKR are reeling early. 3/2 in 1.4 overs

WICKETRahul Tripathi falls after a shaky start, getting lured by an away going delivery from Mohammad Siraj, outside edging it to the 'keeper.3/1 in 1.3 overs

Rahul Tripathi and Shubhman Gill have walked out to open the innings for KKR

TOSS: Kolkata Knight Riders have won the toss and elected to bat. They have made two changes to their side, with Tom Banton and Prasidh Krishna coming in for Shivam Mavi and Andre Russell. It will be the first time since April 2012 that KKR will be playing without Russell or Sunil Narine in the XI. RCB, on the other hand, have made only one chance with Mohammad Siraj coming in for Shahbaz Ahmed.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Mohammed Siraj, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Shubman Gill, Tom Banton, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rahul Tripathi, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy

The CricViz Analyst @cricvizanalyst Andre Russell misses the game for #KKR tonight, but he won’t be missed in quite the same way as previous seasons. His scoring rate this year, 7.9rpo, is the slowest he’s scored in any of the last five IPL editions. #KKRvRCB #IPL2020 01:33 PM • Oct 10, 2020

Hello and welcome to Match 31 of IPL 2020, set to be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi. Both teams, despite some lingering issues, have managed to stay in the top four of the points table without much stress. However, with Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab notching wins in the last couple of days, they are proving to be a possible threat to both KKR and RCB in the second half of the group stage. A win for RCB will help them enter the top two and make them comfortable in their playoffs race, while a loss to KKR can severely hurt them at this stage, especially with the team yet to find its best combination.

As we wait for the toss, here's the match preview: KKR look to distance themselves from chasing pack
