Ireland To Tour West Indies For Three ODIs, One-off T20IThe West Indies tour follows right after Ireland's trip to USA.

Cricket West Indies announced the schedule for Ireland’s tour of West Indies in January 2022, with Sabina Park, Jamaica set to host the three ODIs and the one-off T20I. Ireland’s tour of West Indies follows their visit to USA for two T20Is and three ODIs.

The only T20I in the West Indies-Ireland series is also likely to be the final game for Chris Gayle, with CWI president Ricky Skerritt having earlier indicated to Cricbuzz that they are open to the idea of handing the Jamaican left-hander a farewell game in his hometown.

Ireland will be touring the West Indies for the second time, having last played in the Caribbean in January 2020. West Indies won the ODI series 3-0 in their last meeting while Ireland held West Indies to a 1-1 draw in the three-match T20I series, securing a thrilling four-run win in the first T20I of the 2020 series.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Ireland back to the West Indies in January. They last visited the Caribbean in 2020 and we had some exciting encounters, so we can anticipate a competitive series to start the new year,” said Johnny Grave, CEO of CWI.

The three ODIs will be part of the World Cup Super League, with West Indies currently placed eighth while Ireland are fourth.

“We are pleased to be returning to the Caribbean where we have so many great memories. The World Cup Super League is a crucial set of fixtures for Ireland as we attempt to qualify for the next Cricket World Cup, and – if the series in 2020 is anything to go by – we look forward to a highly competitive series in January,” added Richard Holdsworth, High Performance Director of Cricket Ireland.
