Live Cricket Score – India Vs Australia, 2nd T20I, 2022India hit back to level the series in a truncated game at Nagpur.

DK needs only two deliveries…

to chase down the remaining 9 runs. He swivel pulls the first ball for six and puts the next one between deep fielders at square leg and mid-wicket to finish the game off. Rohit finishes unbeaten on 46* off 20 as his team force a decider at Hyderabad.

14 to win off 7

Cummins gets Pandya with a slower ball. It's 14 off 7 but Cummins bowls a wide and Rohit waits for another slower one and cuts it past point for four. It's 9 to win off 6 now!

Zampa gets Rahul, Kohli and Suryakumar…

But India are still in control of this chase. They need 36 off 22 with 7 wickets (incl Rohit) in hand. But Zampa has been excellent. He enticed Rahul to play the slog and beat him.

Kohli drilled him for a four down the ground and then missed the next one while charging out and was cleaned up. Suryakumar went for the sweep first up and missed a full ball to be adjudged LBW.

30 in the PowerPlay; 4 sixes

Three of them from the broad bat of Rohit Sharma, who is now the outright record holder of the most sixes (175) in T20I cricket. He goes past Martin Guptill (172). Australia's seamers have tried to get him by rolling their fingers on short deliveries. Has mostly sat up to be dispatched.

Wade at it again…

India set 91 to win to level the series. Wade helps Australia plunder 31 from the final 2 overs. Harshal bears the brunt in a 19-run final over in which his attempted slower balls sat up fairly well for Wade to drill it away. The visitors could have had more, for three sixes brought 18 runs and the other three Harshal deliveries cost India just 1.

59/4 after 6 overs

Finch is cleaned up by a low full toss from Bumrah for a 15-ball 31 and the quick scoring mantle has been taken up by Matthew Wade, who has put away two rank bad balls from Harshal Patel to move to 19 off 12. Can Australia get to around 90?

Axar has a second wicket

And it's another slider with the scrambled seam that doesn't bounce enough. Tim David has an almighty swing and connects only with the humid Nagpur air. He is cleaned up, pretty similar to how Maxwell fell. Just four runs from the fourth over and India are not letting Australia run away despite Finch batting on 24 off 11.

19/2 after the two-over PowerPlay

It's a pretty good first over from Axar Patel, continuing his fine form the first game. It's a smart call from Rohit to bowl Axar in one of the two PowerPlay overs. He nearly has Cam Green with his first ball but Kohli drops a catch at long-on. The former skipper atones for his error with a sharp piece of fielding at mid-on and Axar collects at the bowler's end to effect the run out.

Axar also cleans up Glenn Maxwell with the first ball. Not much bounce on the wicket for the spinners.

Rohit elects to chase in shortened game

India bring in Bumrah and Pant. Because they'll need only four overs, they have left out Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Australia have a pair of changes too. Sean Abbott and Daniel Sams come in for Nathan Ellis (injured) and Josh Inglis.

“Although the conditions are not perfect, the toss will be at 9:15pm IST, start at 9:30pm.Eight overs per side, two overs of the powerplay and a bowler can bowl a maximum of two overs”

Next inspection is at 8.45 PM IST

The umpires Ananthapadmanabhan and Nitin Menon just spoke to the broadcasters and they are concerned about one particular area by the pavilion end where the surface is still soft “and moving underneath”. It is a risk for injuries. The groundsmen are throwing sawdust and are running the roller over it. But the umpires have confirmed that for a five-over-match the first ball will have to be bowled by 9.46 PM IST

It's a frustrating wait!

Update: Another inspection at 8PM

Oh, wow! This looks like a significant delay.

Wet outfield delays Toss

It's not raining right now but Nagpur received a lashing last evening that forced the teams to cancel practice too. That's left the outfield a little damp and the umpires will inspect it at 7PM. We'll have the Toss thereafter.

Why don't you indulge in the full match preview meanwhile…

Prelude – India out to keep series alive

India have been working on their batting approach for a while now that some cracks have shown up in their bowling. They should be eased somewhat with Bumrah coming back into the XI. But they'll need the likes of Bhuvneshwar, Harshal and Chahal to step it up.

There is a series on the line, but I think the eyes are on the bigger picture. What about Australia, the World Champions are looking good despite missing three of their first-choice (pretty much) players absent. A series win will be a perfect boost heading into a title defence at home.

Over to Nagpur, then! Toss and teams coming up soon!

Hemant @hemantbuch To me, it isn't really that critical to win these #INDvAUS or #PAKvENG games..more important to get players in form and test the team in tough situations. Finding answers to tough questions is crucial, not the result 10:34 AM&nbsp&#149 Sep 09, 2022
