Can NZ get past India's spin might?
TEA: India 154/4
Shreyas survives a review
He's hit on the back pad playing inside the line to Somerville, it looked very close initially. But the ball-tracker keeps the impact to umpire's call.
WICKET: Rahane falls!
Jamieson gets his third as Rahane chops one on. He had survived a caught behind appeal on review in just the previous ball. But he now walks back for 35. India in trouble at 145/4.
Concern for NZ as Southee walks off
He's walked off in the middle of an over with a bit of a niggle. H
New Zealand lose a review
Ajinkya Rahane has looked nervy so far, and Southee is putting him under further pressure with some reverse swing. New Zealand take an optimistic review but Rahane was well outside off.
WICKET: Southee gets Pujara
An all too familiar type of dismissal for Pujara. He hangs his bat outside off, gets an edge that goes low to the keepers. New Zealand have got two big wickets early after Lunch. India in a spot of bother at 106/3.

WICKET: Jamieson strikes again!
There is some low bounce but Gill is done in to a fuller ball again, he gets a big inside edge onto the stumps. Second for Jamieson and a wicket in the first over after Lunch.
LUNCH: India 82/1
Gill remains unbeaten on 52 and his unbeaten partnership of 61 with Pujara has given India the right kind of morning after winning the toss.
Fifty for Gill!
India make steady progress
The fifty has come up with Gill even lofting Ajaz for a six in between. He could have had him much earlier if NZ had gone for a review for an LBW but now Gill looks well set.
WICKET: Jamieson gets Mayank
He's bowled a top class opening spell and gets a well-deserved wicket. Mayank pokes outside off and gets a thick edge through to the keeper.
Shubman survives a review
Nearly a breakthrough for New Zealand as Gill is given LBW against Southee. But there's a big inside edge and he's saved on review.

The lead up…
Will the new-look India side have as much of an impact without its senior players? Will New Zealand be able to capitalize on the inexperience? Will the pitch turn from day one? Will the toss play a big role in the outcome of the game? Will India play three spinners?
A lot more of such questions will need answering as the reigning World Test Champions take on hosts India at Kanpur. The answers to a few of them at least will come up during the toss. Stay tuned for the updates.
