Live Cricket Score – RR Vs CSK, Match 47, IPL 2021RR pulled off a 190 run chase thanks to fifties from Jaiswal and Dube

RR keep playoffs hopes afloat

Wow, that was some attack from Rajasthan Royals. They complete the chase in just 17.3 overs to keep the hopes of qualification alive. Phillips finishes with 14 not out off 8 while Dube is unbeaten on 64 off 42. RR now move up to the sixth spot on the points table.

Samson falls as RR close in

Dube scores a boundary off Hazlewood, who finishes with 0-54. Shardul is also hit for a boundary but he manages to send Samson back as the RR skipper hits a short ball straight to Gaikwad near the fence to depart for 28 off 24. RR are 170/3 in the 16th over, needing 20 more off 26.

RR cross 150, Dube reaches fifty

Curran continues to be expensive as he concedes a four and a six, both hit by Dube, in the 12th over. Hazlewood is having an of day too as Samson and Dube manage a boundary each in the 13th over. Hazlewood has already conceded 50 off his 3 overs while Curran has given away 39 off his three so far. Dube brings up a 31-ball fifty with a single off Shardul. RR are 160/2 after 14 overs, needing 30 more off 36.

100 up for RR

Only 8.1 overs taken to reach there as Samson and Dube continue scoring boundaries. Dube has started with a six off Jadeja while Samson has already scored three fours. Dube adds to his sixes tally with a couple of maximums off Moeen as RR move to 119/2 after 10 overs.

Asif strikes first ball

An important wicket for CSK considering how Jaiswal was going. The opener looks to play a paddle but ends up getting a glove through to Dhoni to depart for 50 off 21.

Lewis falls

Lewis is put down by Uthappa off Thakur but Hazlewood doesn't make any mistake holding on to the ball at fine leg as the opening stand worth 77 comes to an end. Lewis departs for 27 off 12 as Shardul bowls a quiet over despite being hit for a four by Samson. RR blaze away to 81/1 in six overs, the highest PP score in this IPL.

Highest Powerplay scores by RR in IPL: 81/1 v CSK Abu Dhabi 2021, 73/1 vs Deccan Chargers 2008, 70/0 vs PBKS Jaipur 2010.

Jaiswal's 19-ball fifty powers RR in chase of 190

50 up for RR in the fourth over as Lewis takes the attack to Shardul, pulling for a four and a six. CSK have been on the shorter side and the RR openers are taking full toll. Two successive sixes for Jaiswal off Hazlewood, as the opener picks short of length deliveries and crunches them for maximums. He even carves one over cover for a four before flat-batting a six over long off to bring up a 19-ball fifty in style.

Fastest 50s by uncapped Indian players in IPL: 17 balls – Ishan Kishan v KKR 2018, 19 balls – Yashasvi Jaiswal v CSK 2021, 20 balls – Deepak Hooda v RR 2021.

RR hit the straps quickly

Jaiswal, after a boundary off Curran, scores three fours off Hazlewood in the second over. He also gets a lucky break as Rayudu puts down a skier. Lewis gets into the act with and six and a four to the deep midwicket region off Curran while Jaiswal also hits another four to help RR to 41/0 after 3 overs.

A century off final ball for Gaikwad

Jadeja took most of the strike in the final over, scoring two fours and a six off Mustafizur. Gaikwad gets strike for the fifth ball but misses a short delivery. He does, however, clear the deep midwicket fence by quite a distance to bring up his first century and also the first ton in the UAE leg of this IPL. Jadeja finishes with 32 off 15, Gaikwad bats from start to finish for his 101 off 60, CSK post a sizeable 189/4. As many as 73 runs came in the last five overs, including 55 off 22 in the Jadeja-Gaikwad stand.

– Third for CSK vs RR after M Vijay (2010) and Shane Watson (2018)

Milestones for Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad reaches 500 runs in this IPL and also gets the orange cap in the process. His six hitting has been exemplary ad even Mustafizur doesn't have any answers. Jadeja also gets into the act with boundaries and twos as CSK make good progress.

Rayudu falls while Gaikwad ups ante

Two fours and a six off Akash helps Ruturaj move into the 80s. Meanwhile, Rayudu is caught in the deep off Sakariya.

Tewatia strikes again after Gaikwad attacks

Gaikwad goes straight for two sixes off Tewatia in the 15th over. Moeen, however, comes down the track and fails to reach a wide delivery to be out stumped. Tewatia finishes with 3-39, CSK are 116/3.

– 19.35% of Rahul Tewatia's victims in IPL have come by stumpings – the highest % for a bowler with at least 25 wickets in IPL

Moeen Ali in IPL 2021: In India – 6 innings | Avg 34.33 | SR 157.25. In UAE – 5 innings | Avg 18.60 | SR 112.04.

Gaikwad fifty helps CSK forward

Regular boundaries from Gaikwad and Moeen help CSK maintain a good run-rate leading up to the finishing stages of the innings. The England left-hander gets into the act with a four and a six off Markande in the 13th over while Gaikwad brings up a 43-ball fifty with a single off Phillips and helps CSK to the 100-run mark in the 14th over.

Another wicket for Tewatia

Gaikwad hits a four off Tewatia but Raina falls cheaply, as he finds Dube at deep midwicket after playing a slog-sweep. Akash gives away only five runs to keep CSK to 63/2 after 10 overs.

Tewatia strikes to end opening stand

It would have been their fourth successive fifty-plus opening stand for CSK but Tewatia prevents it with the wicket of du Plessis in his first over. The veteran batter comes down the track and plays for the turn but there isn't any and he's out stumped for 25 off 19.

Du Plessis, Gaikwad provide solid base again

Mustafizur starts with a five-run over but du Plessis makes up for it in the next over with two fours off Sakariya. The South African also dispatches a Mustafizur delivery over long on for the first six of the innings before being involved in a collision with the bowler at the non-striker's end. CSK end the powerplay with 44/0.

Statsbuzz:CSK lost four wickets in powerplay against MI in their first game since resumption. In the four matches since they haven't lost a wicket inside the first six overs scoring 59, 52, 47 and 44.

Gaikwad helps CSK off to steady start

Gaikwad starts off with two fours off Akash in the opening over, a straight drive and a slap through cover. Sakariya, meanwhile keeps it tight, giving away only two runs in the second over. Gaikwad edges another Akash delivery through the vacant slip region for his third four as CSK move to 20/0 after 3 overs.

Alrighty then, Gaikwad and du Plessis to open for CSK. Akash Singh will bowl the opening over …

Hello and welcome to the live blog of the IPL 2021 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Before we going with the build up, here's something from Kritika Naidu ahead of the clash –

The first team to seal a playoffs berth in the Indian Premier League 2021, the Chennai Super Kings' true colours are quite visibly vivid. They've now made the IPL playoffs in 11 editions of 12. A handsome six-wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad helped CSK to their fourth win on the trot, with no losses in the UAE leg yet.

A key factor in CSK's success has been stability – both in batting and bowling. Their openers have given them good starts, their middle order has decimated spin, enjoying the cushion of batting really deep. Although spin has been used sparingly, the pacers have done their job more than satisfactorily. While the clinical CSK juggernaut looks unstoppable, they're up against a struggling Rajasthan Royals, who have squandered three chances now of breaking into the top four.

RR have only one win since the tournament moved to the UAE and are in search for an answer to their batting woes. Having struggled in the PowerPlays in the Indian leg, they're now struggling to finish games off with their middle order in desperate need for runs. Evin Lewis, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson are the only ones among the runs. Chris Morris has struggled in the UAE, while Liam Livingstone is yet to make an impact. They are now hanging by a thread with their remaining three games must-wins.
