Scorchers prevailed in the final by 12 runs.
An all-round performance from Marizanne Kapp helped Perth Scorchers Women to their maiden WBBL title in Perth with a 12-run win over Adelaide Strikers on Saturday (November 27). With figures of 1-25 and an unbeaten 23-ball 31, Kapp starred as Scorchers came out trumps to restrict the Strikers to 134/6 in a chase of 147.
Opting to field, the Strikers struck at regular intervals with Sophie Devine leading the innings, top-scoring with a 33-ball 35. While the middle order got starts they couldn't make the most of it. Kapp remained unbeaten with a 23-ball 31 as they finished with 146 in 20 overs. The Strikers lost both openers within 6 overs but the Scorchers were on top limiting the Strikers to 12 after 5 overs.
Laura Wolvaardt and skipper Tahlia McGrath stitched a 65-run stand to resurrect the innings with scores of 25 and 36, but both falling in successive overs hurt the Strikers. Madeline Penna resisted with an unbeaten 21-ball 30, but it wasn't enough to overcome the total to pick up a win and the silverware. Taneale Peschel and Heather Graham returned two wickets apiece, while Marizanne Kapp and skipper Sophie Devine had one each to restrict the Strikers to 134 for 6.
