India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
INDIA BAG THE SERIES! A seven-wicket win in Ranchi and India have bagged their fifth consecutive home series win in T20Is. It was set up by the openers who shared a 117-run stand with both Rohit and KL Rahul getting their respective fifties.Rohit started slow but caught up well to finish with 55 off 36, while Rahul had 65 off 49 with the two setting the platform for a strong finish. Eventually, India chased down the target with 17 balls to spare to cruise to a 7-wicket win. Harshal Patel was named Man of the Match on debut for his returns of 2-25. Hope you enjoyed India's victory today. Do join us for the last T20I on Sunday. Until then, goodbye!
Southee ends his spell with three wickets after knocking over Suryakumar Yadav. He finishes with 3-16 in his four.
Fourth time in T20Is & 11th time across formats Tim Southee has dismissed Rohit Sharma – the most he has dismissed a batsman
Southee strikes again. Another offcutter. Sitter for Guptill at short cover. Tame end to a special knock. Played second fiddle for the most part and then took over once Rahul fell. Suryakumar Yadav comes in next.
Like Rahul, Rohit gets to his 25th T20I half-century with a SIX too!
Southee strikes! A tad too late in the day though, you'd think. Rahul falls for 65, brining curtains on the 117-run opening stand. Off cutter fro Southee, Rahul pulls. Glenn Phillips at deep square leg had his eyes on the ball throughout. Takes a fine catch to put an end to a fine knock! Here's Venkatesh Iyer.

FIFTY up for Rahul with a six!
DROPPED!Rohit lets loose against Santner with two sixes. New Zealand could've had their man, but Boult drops another catch, like he did in the previous game. A life for Rohit on 29. You'd count on Boult to take such chances.
50 up for India. Rohit and KL are going steady and have brought it up until the 7th over.
India have made a good start and after the powerplay, they are 46/0.
Lovely from India to have pulled this New Zealand innings back and kept them to just 153. After the kind of blazing start they got from the openers, the first four overs were taken for 42 and they finished with 64 after the powerplay – it seemed inevitable that they would finish with a total above 180. Dew was on since the outset and New Zealand were so tuned in. However, India's spinners turned the game around, led by R Ashwin once again, who bettered his outing in Jaipur to concede just 19 in his four. The spinners together – Ashwin and Axar – conceded just 45 in their 8 overs. India picked up wickets at regular intervals and restricted New Zealand to a below-par score. It should be a straightforward chase for India, especially given the conditions. Join us on the other side.
OUT!Glenn Phillips holes out for 34 off 21 balls. Harshal Patel gets his second wicket.
OUT! Brilliant from Ashwin. It was the quicker one and flat; Seifert tries to reverse sweep and it's straight to Bhuvneshwar at short third man.
100 up for NZ
OUT!Daryl Mitchell holes out to Suryakumar in the deep. The slower delivery and Mitchell hits it straight down the ground only to be caught at long on.
Dropped!Glenn Phillips is dropped by Venkatesh Iyer at long off on 1.
At the halfway stage NZ are 84/2.
OUT!Chapman plays the lofted shot and doesn't get hold of it. He holes out to KL. Axar gets his first.
After the PP, NZ are 64/1.
SIX AND OUT! For the second time in this series,Guptill hits Chahar for a six and then falls next ball. He edges to Pant after giving New Zealand a strong start.50 up for New Zealand in the fifth over.
Guptill becomes the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket.

Toss: India win the toss, will bowl first.Siraj is injured, Patel replaces him in the XI. For New Zealand, three changes: Neesham, Sodhi and Milne are infor Ferguson, Rachin Ravindra and Astle.
Pitch report: There's dew already in Ranchi, btw… Win toss, chase should be the preference from the captains.
“The average score at this venue is 155, it's a big ground with big dimensions. There's very little grass on the wicket, it'll be a good pitch for spinners and bowlers who can bowl cutters. The team bowling first might extract some purchase as compared to the team bowling second. Looks like a tacky wicket,” reckons Deep Dasgupta.
JUST IN:Harshal Patel is set to make his India debut today.
Another home series and India are on the brink of another series win. Hello and welcome to the second T20I between India and New Zealand. The series now moves to Ranchi after India picked up a five-wicket win in Jaipur. It was a good start to the Rohit-Dravid association. A win here would give them their first series win.
Since 2016, India have remained unbeaten in 10 of their 11 T20I series at home. They have won also won their last four series at home. The going wasn't as easy as was India would've expected given the position they were in at one stage in Jaipur. It came down to the last over and the last three balls. India managed to pull off a win with two balls to spare in the end.
New Zealand, meanwhile, put up a fight, right until the end, but it wasn't enough. Todd Astle wasn't as effective as New Zealand would've hoped; maybe they'll bring in Ish Sodhi today. Jimmy Neesham hopefully has also recovered from his illness and is available today for them with Rachin Ravindra having an ordinary outing in Jaipur. New Zealand will look at bouncing back to level the series. Join us for the toss and everything else in a bit.
