Profile for Joe Mennie. Profile Updated On 11 Wednesday December 2019 041448000000
Born in New South Wales, Mennie moved to South Australia to pursue his dreams of being a first-class cricketer. Having made his debut at the domestic circuit in 2011, Mennie has gone from one strength to another in a very seamless manner. The transition though was spotted by the selectors and they handed him a Test cap.

Albeit a bit of a panic call, Australia were trailing South Africa 1-0 in Tests after a defeat at Perth in late 2016. Heads were called for and Mennie and Cullum Ferguson made their Test debuts. But was a forgettable one for both of them as Australia ended up losing the Test and the series inside four days. Adding insult to injury, it was an innings defeat as well. Mennie got only one innings and had figures of 1 for 85, exactly how much Australia had managed in their first innings.

Prior to his call-up for red ball cricket, Mennie had made his ODI debut against the same opposition in an away series of 5 ODIs. Australia were clean swept 0-5 and Mennie played a couple of games and managed to pick up 3-49 in his second game after conceding 82 runs in his quota of 10 overs on his debut.

But all is not lost for Joe as he continues to rack up the wickets at the first-class level. He was the leading wicket taker in Sheffield Shield for the 2015-16 season. A bowling average hovering around 25 and with 200 wickets to his credit, Mennie is waiting patiently for a shot at redemption.

At the BBL, Joe has been a bit of a traveller. He will be turning up for the Renegades in BBL 07. But his CV boasts of teams like Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. But he would want a more permanent slot as he has featured in only 10 games across all the seasons.
