Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled of the ongoing T20 WC owing to a hamstring injury, chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz on Sunday (October 31).

Abedin revealed the extent of the injury is not known as yet and his participation in the forthcoming series against Pakistan, beginning on November 19, will be decided after a report from physiotherapist Julian Calefato.

“Shakib sustained a left lower hamstring strain while fielding during the match against the West Indies. In clinical examination it was diagnosed as an injury of Grade 1 intensity,” said chief physician of the BCB, Debashish Chowdhury. “He is ruled out from participation in the last two matches of the tournament and until further review,.”

Bangladesh, who have lost all three games thus far in the Super 12 phase, will not take a replacement for the player for the remainder of the competition.
