South Australia players celebrate the dismissal of Travis Head
Daniel Worrall (4 for 49) and Brendan Doggett (3 for 25) shared seven wickets between them to wrap up Queensland's first innings on just 152, on Friday (October 15).
Queensland openers Bryce Street and Joe Burns put on a 42-run opening stand after being put in to bat by the opposition but that was the best partnership they'd manage all day. Nathan McAndrew provided the first breakthrough with the wicket of Street, and once Doggett got rid of Labuschagne and Burns in quick succession, Queensland collapsed in no time. Worrall picked up four of the lower-middle order wickets as they slipped from 89 for 2 to 152 all out in the space of 25 overs.
South Australia themselves finished the day on 89 for 2, with opener Henry Hunt and skipper Travis Head holding the fort through their 45-run stand after Mark Steketee dismissed both Jake Carder in the second over and Nathan McSweeney in the 17th. At stumps, SA were only 63 behind with eight wickets in hand and the first-innings lead in sight.
Brief scores: South Australia 89/2 (Henry Hunt 37*, Travis Head 28*; Mark Steketee 2-8) trail Queensland 152 (Joe Burns 48; Daniel Worrall 4-49, Brendan Doggett 3-25) by 63 runs
