Queensland vs Western Australia
Cameron Bancroft's unbeaten 47 helped Western Australia to a comfortable seven-wicket victory in their Shield encounter against Queensland, taking them to the top of the points table with their second successive win of the season.
Bancroft lost his opening partner cheaply, after Queensland set a meagre target of 95, but he combined with Cameron Green to stitch a 34-run partnership and put the chase back together. Queensland overhauled the target in under 34 overs, with Josh Phillippe chipping in a handy 17 not out after Mark Steketee picked 2 for 21.
Earlier in the day, Jhye Richardson picked up the last remaining Queensland wicket to complete his fifer and bowl them out for 246, setting up his team's easy target.
Brief scores: Queensland 129 and 246 (Joe Burns 49, Matt Renshaw 43; Jhye Richardson 5-23) lost to Western Australia281 and 95/3 (Cameron Bancroft 47*; Mark Steketee 2-21) by 7 wickets.
Tasmania vs South Australia
Tasmania settled for the third spot in the points tally after persistent rain in Hobart forced a draw in their Shield encounter against South Australia.
With the scores levelled yesterday, Tasmania squeezed out a 62-run lead before folding for 282 on the final day, with Jordan Silk making 58 and Peter Siddle contributing 38 at no. 10. However, in overcast conditions and after having already lost significant time in the game to rain, a result was very unlikely. South Australia openers had posted a 32-run stand before rain arrived shortly before Lunch and the rest of the day was washed off.
Brief scores: South Australia 220 and 32/0 (Jake Weatherald 16*, Henry Hunt 15*) drew with Tasmania 282 (Charlie Wakhim 68, Jordan Silk 58; Daniel Worrall 2-55, Nathan McAndrew 2-50).
