New scans have revealed another fracture on the already injured thumb.
Bangladesh received another blow ahead of the upcoming home series against Pakistan with Tamim Iqbal ruled out from the series due to a thumb injury. Bangladesh will be without the services of Mohammad Saifuddin for the entire series while Shakib al Hasan has been ruled out of the T20I series because of the hamstring injury he picked up during the T20 WC 2021.
Tamim started the net session last week to prepare for the Test series but went for an x-ray as he felt uncomfortable while batting against pace bowlers. The left-hander will now see a specialist overseas.
He was eyeing a comeback during the Test series but new scans have revealed that the opener now has a new fracture on his broken thumb. Bangladesh Cricket Board's chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed the development to Cricbuzz. “Yes, he is ruled out from the home series against Pakistan due to a thumb injury. The swelling has not healed and due to that reason he had another x-ray. It revealed he is having a fracture that was not found out previously,” said Minhajul.
The three T20Is are scheduled on November 19, 20 and 22 respectively at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. The two-Test series opener at the Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium will start on November 26. The second Test will be played in Mirpur from December 4.
