Same day, same result:IPL's heavyweights Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians clashed on September 19 last year to kickstart IPL 2020 and they did the same last night to resume an edition that was unfortunately halted a few months ago due to the pandemic. The men in yellow managed to come out on top like they did last time and as a result, they have moved to the top spot. At 24/4 after the powerplay, it never looked like CSK would come out on top but thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad and Dwayne Bravo at the end, they managed to put up a fighting 156. That proved to be more than good enough against a side that didn't have Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in their ranks.

Kohli gives up RCB captaincy:While all eyes were on CSK and MI on expected lines, Virat Kohli stole the spotlight for a brief moment during the game. World cricket's biggest name had recently announced that he is giving up the T20I captaincy of the national side post the World Cup next month and now he will be giving up the RCB captaincy as well. IPL 2021 will be Kohli's last season as a leader. But he has reaffirmed his commitment to the franchise by announcing he will play for them until retirement.

Ruturaj's range rescues CSK:Last year, the CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had half-joked about Ruturaj Gaikwad's late form making it tough for them, as their well-researched and staunchly-backed investment in him could easily be rivaled at the auction table. A year on, as he mopped up the mess created by the top-order to add a sixth half-century to his IPL tally, the threat of multiple suitors circling for him in the postponed mega-auctions is starting to look very real.

KKR hope for form reversal:As KKR lost five of their seven matches in India earlier this year, things weren't quite falling in place and even the coach – Brendon McCullum – couldn't hide his disappointment. Now that the players and think tank has had time to reflect on the early tournament struggles, the only option for KKR is to start winning. Losing isn't an option anymore. On the other hand, can RCB hit the ground running and pile on the misery?

Tattle of the day– Did Chennai find Shivaji Rao Gaekwad's successor?
