Wasim Khan Steps Down As PCB CEOThe board confirmed the news of Wasim Khan stepping down with a brief statement on Wednesday morning.

Wasim Khan, the erudite Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has stepped down.

The board confirmed the news with a brief statement on Wednesday (September 29) morning. “Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed Wasim Khan has tendered his resignation as Chief Executive. As is the process, the BOG (Board of Governors) will meet later today to consider the matter.”

The resignation follows a spate of exits since Ramiz Raja took over as the chief of the PCB earlier this month. Ramiz's ascension to the top PCB post, under the command of PCB patron-in-chief Prime Minister Imran Khan, was preceded by the resignations of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, the head coach and the bowling coach, of the national team.

The exit of Khan (50) comes at a time of serious churning in Pakistan cricket which has suffered in the recent past from withdrawals of New Zealand and England – two series from which the PCB had major expectations. A section of Pakistan cricket blamed the CEO for his inability to convince the teams to play in the country.

Khan, who took over as the CEO in 2019 after he was recruited by former chairman Ehsan Mani, resigned ahead of a crucial BOG meeting which, as the PCB has stated, will take a call on his decision to leave. Khan's three-year contract runs till February next year.
